Shana Liebman

Shana Liebman has been a writer and editor in New York for more than 20 years. After graduating from Brown University, she became a reporter for the New York Observer. She then led the startup team for PAPER Magazine’s seminal website, Papermag.com, after which she edited EdificeRex, Manhattan’s first editorially-based real-estate portal.

In 2000, Shana was accepted into Columbia University's MFA program where she worked with Jennifer Egan and Jonathan Franzen. After graduation, she edited The Independent Film and Video Monthly and became the Arts Editor for HEEB Magazine — where she launched and produced the acclaimed Heeb Storytelling series at Joe’s Pub. During this time, she was also a regular contributor to New York Magazine and helped write Travel & Leisure's The World’s Greatest Hotels, Resorts & Spas.

In 2006, Shana became the Deputy Editor of Endless Vacation, a custom published monthly for clients of RCI (the world’s largest timeshare exchange company). In 2008, Hachette published her book, Sex, Drugs & Gefilte Fish: The Heeb Storytelling Anthology. Shortly after that, she became the first Fiction Editor of GOOD Magazine, a regular contributor to Brooklyn Based and Managing Editor of Mosaic Magazine, a custom published magazine for clients of Morgan Stanley.

In the past few years she has written for and edited local publications including Westchester Family, The Hudson Independent and the Hudson Valley section of the Albany Times Union.

She received a culinary degree from the Institute of Culinary Education in 2023. She is currently working on a cookbook about international barbecue, Barbecue: The Cookbook, for Phaidon Publishing Company, which will be published in 2025.
